Yes, just as if/he were their biological child.

In this situation, unless the adoptee had a spouse, the state will inherit his estate because by law neither his own biological family or the biological family of his adoptive parents have inheritance rights regards him, by law. If, however, the adoptee died after his adoptive parents and left a married or common-law spouse, then she would be his heir by law.
